Let’s talk “P” to the “Lates”! So, it’s all the rage right now, (as it should be) and people are all about their Pilates bod, (can we blame them?!?!?) me, myself, and I included! Pilates and I started to date about a year ago, and then I said the “L” word like about a day later!

I actually learned about Pilates (how we get all of our information these days…) from Instagram. I followed this chick, FitmamaQ and she posted about her Pilates classes. Let’s be real, she has a hot bod. So, I hit the research mecca YouTube and began doing Pilates videos in my living room. As you can see, all of this info is really deep today. 😉

Side Note: So, just like a 100 year old, I have had lower back problems all my life. I have gone to the chiropractor like a bajillion times. I tried everything to strengthen it, but it just seemed to be getting worse. I was seriously over it. Even if it wasn’t hurting, I was dreading knowing it was only a matter of time before it did again. Well Cha-Ching folks! Pilates completely cured my back probs! All the exercises work really hard to strengthen your core, relieve pressure off your back and wah-lah. I became a spring chicken in about a week!

Also, this string bean has a difficult time putting on muscle, but I noticed pretty quickly that I was getting those forever-desired long lean muscles… hooked!

Naturally, my next step was to get certified in Pilates training. I literally don’t know how I get started on these random things sometimes, all I know is that Tomas is a trooper. 😉  I found a reputable Pilates training certification through Power Pilates and started the studying process. Then, I was shipped off to So. Flo. for a weekend intensive training.

Let it be known that the “weekend intensive” is a severe understatement. I thought I was going to die… after the first hour.  “Pilates on steroids” is a thing. But duh, I knocked that ‘ish’ out and walked out with what should have been an honorary doctoral degree (real thing). But whatever, I was certified and could now post about it on Instagram. 😉

Now, I love teaching, from my one-on-ones to group classes and I really love how much people love it! To give you all a piece of the pie, I thought I would do a little section on core strength building! Below is a little video that you can do to really build your core (which is everything in Pilates) and strengthen your abs. It is super safe and made for people with injuries so even a beginner beginner shouldn’t have a problem!

Lemme know whatcha think!
