You guys I am a total goal setting junkie! If you know me this is a super big deal every year (especially around New Years), but I literally make any excuse to be constantly setting goals. Obsessed much? Yes!

It helps me to accomplish tasks, stay on track, motivated, and I get way more done than if I hadn’t set them in the first place. I built the whole Balance Culture biz on goal setting. I would set deadlines on making decisions  (literally building a business just consists of a million decisions in a row over a long period of time, like for real) and striving after goals simultaneously. Easy? Yes! Time consuming? Hell Yes!

Every year Tomas and I come up with a word of the year and kinda surround all of our decisions around it intentionally and not so intentionally. For 2015 our word was “run”. Basically this meant run in terms of life, like chase dreams and goals and don’t slow down. I can definitely say we did that but can also say we are just getting started and just laid the foundation. As of this moment we don’t have our word of the year for 2016, it is still being discussed 😉 .

This year for goal setting we stuck to the 7 F’s. Have you guys heard of this? I hadn’t until we did it, but it was pretty great! I set several goals for each but if just picking one is more attainable, do that!

It is important to create goals that are attainable. It is great to have big lofty goals but what I usually do is pick that big goal and then take a thousand steps back and think “Ok what can I be doing now to get to that point?” Big goals aren’t achieved over night!

The 7 F’s are:

  • Faith
  • Family
  • Finances
  • Fitness (I added health too)
  • Friends
  • Fun
  • Future

And in true Kirstin fashion, I added some of my own because I thought they left some out. I added Personal Growth and Career. I started to look for “F” synonyms for those but kept getting distracted so let me know what you come up with! 😉

Here is a little chart if you like pictures 😉

*you can also rate yourself in each of these areas form a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest), connect the circles to see your stronger/ weaker areas, and then revisit to see what has changed 🙂

Make this something fun and exciting, not overwhelming. Little tip here, anxiousness and excitement are actually very similar emotions so it is easy to transfer one into the other, sometimes when I feel anxious, especially about the future and plans I CHOOSE to get excited! It freakin’ works peeps!!
